Introducing Bamboo

Bamboo is a tall, rigid plant with a long woody, often hollow stem. It grows in tropical and semitropical regions throughout the world. Bamboo is an extremely strong and versatile plant fiber. For centuries, bamboo was often the subject of traditional Chinese art and architecture and often used for home furnishings and decoration. Now, as a woven fabric, bamboo is soft, smooth and luxurious. Bamboo fabric possesses many desirable characteristics making it ideal for bedding and accessories:

Natural

Bamboo is a natural fiber much like cotton, wool and silk. However, it is an easily renewable resource, actually a grass, which grows very fast with minimal maintenance and expense. In addition, bamboo fabric is absorbent, similar to flax fiber, but better than cotton.

Breathable

Bamboo is a breathable fiber. The very nature of a bamboo allows air to circulate freely throughout the fiber. In fact, for centuries throughout the Far East, bamboo has been used for chairs and beds because of its natural ability to breathe and regulate comfort by staying cool or warm depending on the temperature.

Strength & Resiliency

Because of its strength and flexibility, bamboo is often the material of choice for construction scaffolding, providing the necessary support and access for workers and heavy materials. As a woven fabric, bamboo retains these qualities of strength and resiliency and is the only natural fiber with the strength and elasticity of some synthetic fibers.

Hypoallergenic and Germ Resistant

Much like silk, the bamboo fiber is long and therefore does not break apart creating dust or allergens. Moreover, bamboo is naturally resistant to germ and bacteria growth. When tested and compared to cotton, bamboo’s natural qualities do not promote the growth of germs and bacteria. Note: Although hypoallergenic and germ resistant – bamboo does not claim to be anti-bacterial.
